As a Software Developer at SumoQuote, I was accountable for writing efficient and high-quality code to develop and enhance the platform. I was an active participant in agile methodologies, including daily stand-ups, sprint planning and grooming, sprint reviews, code reviews, and feature discovery. One of my main focuses was integrating with a third-party provider to provide real-time pricing and product information to our customers. Through my efforts, I was able to significantly reduce the payload size of API calls by over 87%, improving performance and enhancing the user experience.

In this role I developed websites for some of Canada’s largest charitable lotteries such as STARs Lottery, (Alberta) Children’s Hospital Lottery, and Calgary Stampede Lottery. I established best practices for development and educated other team members on how to produce cleaner, more maintainable applications. I led the development and creation of an application incorporating lottery subscriptions with user authentication, automatic payments, administrative logging, and many other features to improve customer retention and increase lottery sales.

As the sole Web Developer for this Digital Advertising Agency, I was responsible for the design, development, deployment, and maintenance of a large number of websites for clients of varying industries. I conducted split testing to improve UX and align with the strategies of various stakeholders. I created, launched, and monitored PPC Campaigns for up to fifteen clients at a time and reported to stakeholders on their effectiveness. My largest project in this role was for one of the largest animal rescue societies in Western Canada (AARCS). This included the development of a custom CMS to manage animals available for adoption, applications, upcoming fundraising events, and the implementation of a digital payment system.

As a Web Development Bootcamp Student at Lighthouse Labs, I participated in the highly-intensive twelve week program. The ciriculum consisted of JavaScript, Node.js, React, Ruby on Rails and more. Starting with the basics and gradually working towards developing full-stack web applications. Throughout the program, I worked on several individual and group projects, which allowed me to develop foundational skills to participate within a team.
